Rockhopper has been hiking with his children for over 13 years and passes along several useful tips. Pack a small deck of cards and some children's books, and when they've had enough hiking stop and spend some down time together. Then once they are ready, get back on the trail. Just hike for a while, instead of pushing them when they've had enough.
