We borrowed a GPS unit and carried it on one of our hikes. It was fun to use and we had a good time making notations of water, campsites and so forth. The trail we were on didn't have any published information about stuff like that and if we were ever to take Boy Scouts along, that knowledge would be helpful. Ever since that hike Golden has been interested in getting his own GPS unit for backpacking and for other uses. He is learning about all the different features they offer and here are his thoughts.
